In what is the first of its kind, the Law Commission recently announced a two-year review of marriage ceremonies across England and Wales — including rules dating back to the Victorian era — with an expected overhaul set to ‘remove unnecessary red-tape to increase the choice and lower the cost of venues’ and ultimately create new opportunities for couples wanting to wed outside.
